Chapter 7 – Betrayed Into Darkness

Agonizing pain was the first sensation I felt, as I slowly became aware of my surroundings.  My entire body ached as separate injuries made themselves painfully known. Even as I was trying to stabilize myself, the back of my skull throbbed, dulling my senses with numbing pain as I moved my head to rest it against a flat surface that was behind me. It was difficult to open my eyes as the pain also included my face, it seems whatever happened to me while I was knocked out also included facial shots. After calming down I could tell I was propped against a wall, held standing by some rope that bound my hands. Unfortunately for me, just as I was able to open my right eye the first thing I saw was a fist moved towards my face.

Author’s Note: Hey guys I’m back, after careful consideration I have decided to start this novel over. And before you ask what about this version, I am going to finish it with the next two chapters I have already typed. These 7 chapters will be renamed “The Untold Beginning” and I hope to send out the revised novel by monday. Thanks for your support and I hope the revision is better than the original.

‘I’m certain my parents will be angry about this if they ever found out, but the semester is all but done. In a few days we leave this godforsaken place to take our positions in the world. No matter what my mother may think my last name is not, nor will it ever be Reynard.’

After leaving the women’s bathroom in anger upon hearing their conversation, I immediately called Alex, my current idiot demanding he round up his teammates and cripple the blight that is currently in my life, Sebastian.

Four Years Later

After, carefully balancing his duties as the Alvertan Prime Minister and Ajax’s inside informant. Talus Rivera expects good news from earth, his lord’s recovery has been slow and tedious but the end result would be worth it. After receiving periodic updates on their progress, Talus expects to hear the good news that the last obstacle preventing them from completing to their goal has finally been taken care of. He was optimistic when he started up the visual function of his crystex, that mood however changed very fast.

Finishing my conversation with Javier, I can’t shake the feeling I missed something vitally important. It’s a skill I have relied on for many jobs and it has never steered me wrong. Could it be I actually do know where the deed is.?….. No that’s impossible, I would have picked up on it by now. Then what is it?

“ARRGH, SO ANNOYING, NOTHING ABOUT THIS JOB HAS GONE RIGHT!”

In a car moving towards the Reynard Mansion, Ambrose Wallace picked up his ringing cell phone. He checks the area for a police car while switching his phone to speaker mode.

“Javier, what’s the verdict?”

Wallace immediately questions before the caller has a chance to reply.

“The investigator they hired has been taken care of. A slight complication has occurred though; there was one other recipient on his report, their identity currently unknown. We sent his client your contact number in his place, they should be contacting you soon”

From the day he entered the world, Sebastian Ignus Reynard was engaged to Alicia Alcott though they didn’t find out until later in life. Both were born within hours of each other at the same hospital. Sebastian was born with brown hair that became unruly and spiky as he got older and inherited his father’s black eyes. Alicia was blessed with straight black hair, light oriental skin and sky blue eyes.

5th day of Set, 2105.

Within these walls resides a symbol, A pillar of strength and a natural observer, The Neutral Judge that has held the world in their hand. [Enai balt], the meaning of this title is “the lord of justice”. This lone individual forever changing, each addition giving up the position when they are properly replaced. It isn’t guaranteed that the successor will be the same gender, or even sometimes the same race. It is a position of power that has been passed along for thousands of years when one has collected the sigils of Lonsa (Power).

Presently a male voice can be heard speaking in a melodic tone.
